Cataloguing Coleridge-Taylor’s Works

One of the Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Foundation’s ambitions is to create the definitive on-line catalogue of Coleridge-Taylor’s works. We intend it will have not only a list of his music but also information about where to find it, both in recorded form and as scores.

This ambition is complex to deliver, requiring much work and investment of time and effort before, as we seriously intend that it will be, it is completely realised.
However as of January 30th 2012, we are pleased to present a catalogue created following extensive research by one of our Patrons, Dr Dominique-René de Lerma. You can read Dr de Lerma’s catalogue, which he has very generously donated to us in its entirety for use by SCTF members and visitors, by following the link below to a PDF file (for which to read you’ll need Adobe Acrobat).
The catalogue is fully searchable using your normal Search facility.

Please note (2017) that scores prepared by the late Patrick Meadows are now handled by Musica Mundana Musikverlag GmbH. The best way to contact them is probably via www.musica-mundana.com

We welcome any updates to this catalogue that you can make to help us fill in the gaps in our collective knowledge about Coleridge-Taylor, the man and his music. Please help us by leaving any comments at the bottom of this page – we look forward to hearing from you.

Mi interessano i nn. d’opera, oltre al Te Deum.
In CD ho solo Hiawatha, nell’edizione Argo- Decca 1991. Esistono altre registrazioni su CD? E’ previsto qualcosa per il centenario del 2012? Grazie

[With apologies to Vincenzo, perhaps someone could translate this into English – and post below – more accurately than I can, to reach more people still? Many thanks all round.]

Thanks for this Vincenzo. I’ve posted it also on the Discussion Forum of this website.
I hope we shall be able to share information on plans for 2012 very soon.
      Best wishes,
      Hilary

  2. Sr. Scotto has the Argo-Decca CD of Hiawatha (the wedding feast) and wants to know if there are other CD recordings.

This coming Sunday our choir is presenting Coleridge-Taylor’s “O Ye That Love The Lord”. While preparing brief remarks introducing it, I found a wealth of information about the composer on excellent sites such as this one and others including Wikipedia, but no information anywhere regarding this specific anthem for SATB chorus and organ.

The octavo we’re using was published by C.T. Wagner Music Publishers, which says it’s a reprint of “the 1892 edition by Novello, Ewer and Co.”

I’m wondering when this anthem was composed and if it was part of a larger work by Coleridge-Taylor, what that work might be.
